I created this website for folks who are wanting to get started or who have had a little success in affiliate marketing, but who are looking for more consistent results.
If you are visiting for the first time, then maybe a good place to start is with who I am. Learn more about my crazy story of how I got into affiliate marketing here.
Hopefully, you will see that I am a regular person just like you, only difference is that I earn a full-time living online and work from home.
The next place would be to answer this question.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
I have read so many complicated explanations for this question, but really it doesn’t have to be that complicated. Affiliate marketing is about getting paid a commission for referring a visitor to an offer. That’s it.
So how does it work?
Usually you direct a visitor to an offer using a variety of traffic methods – normally referred to as “driving traffic” and if someone buys the product you’re referring them to, then you get a commission for it.
The commission can range from as little as 10% and go all the way up to 75% to even 90% a referral. Yep – 90% … that’s not a misprint.
Physical products like clothing, furniture, sports equipment, watches, jewellery etc, usually fall in the lower percentile in commission payouts, because of the costs incurred to manufacture the product, while digital products (or informational based products) like ebooks and downloadable videos would offer a much higher payout for obvious reasons.
So that’s affiliate marketing and how it works in a nutshell.
How do you get started?
So the next question is, where do I find product owners who will let me sell their products and pay me a commission?
Well, I’ll get to that but, let me tell you what I did when I first started out.
When I first started out, there were just so many affiliate programs and companies to choose from that, like a dummy, I opted to do all of them, but later found out that this was the wrong way to approach it.
Because, what tends to happen when you have so many things on the go at once, is that you spread yourself too thinly. Which means you never really develop the skills that are necessary to get the traffic to convert your offer.
Where to find products to sell.
Okay, so most people would have heard about Clickbank, and Clickbank would be the obvious place to start as an affiliate marketer if I didn’t know any better, but I do know better, and whilst they are still currently paying me out weekly commissions for systems I setup years ago, I have shifted my focus to a continuity payment plan, where I get a customer for life.
The main reason why I have shifted my focus away from Clickbank, is because I found myself “pimping” out multiple products, which is an awful lot of work, because it means having to get “inside my prospects head” to understand their wants and needs. Imagine having to do that for multiple products.
Yes, you can specialize in one area, but if your competition is high and the commissions low then you will find yourself struggling to make enough money to make the effort worthwhile, unless you go deep. By deep I mean back-end sales. But that’s different discussion altogether.
If you are looking for a step by step strategy to getting over the “humps” in your online endeavors, then you will find some useful information on my site.
What I share on my website bridges the gap between the the “how to’s” and the stuff that no one talks about in affiliate marketing and that is – (how to “think” like an affiliate marketer).
