When I first started out in affiliate marketing one of the most important things that I needed to understand was keyword difficultly.
It’s no use in trying to rank for a keyword if the competition is too fierce. You might as well use that time to pick keyword phrases that will bring you traffic.
And after going through a number of different methods of trying to figure out how to do this effectively, I found one method that is not only free to use, but really does work. Long tail keyword
All you need to do is perform a keyword search using the operator allintitle and use a Firefox plugin called SEO Quake.
Overview
One thing every SEO expert will tell you is that the title of your post is a big factor in ranking in the search engines.
If your keyword is not in your title somewhere then it makes it ten times more difficult to rank for that keyword phrase.
Therefore this is one of the most important things you need to have in ranking your webpage. Adwords keyword tool
Here’s How I Do It
I use a operator called allintitle.
This brings me back all the competing webpages in Google that has the exact phrase match in the title of a webpage.
For example: If I want to rank for the keyword ‘free affiliate marketing training course‘, then I would prefix the search with the allintitle operate then a semi colon followed by the keyword phrase as shown in the pic below.
This tells me that I am competing with 2,070 other webpages in Google, which is a good in terms of ranking for that keyword phrase in Google.
Anything under 5,000 is good.
Next I have to find out the average Page Rank authority of the first ten results for that keyword phrase.
To do this I use a Firefox plugin called SEO Quake as mentioned above.
After you install it, ensure the SEO Toolbar is clicked.
Type in your keyword phrase into Google and then press search. SEO Quake will display the Page Rank of each website on the front page. Now all you do is total up the page rank and divide it by the number of results on the first page.
Here’s a quick summation of the results.
0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 5 + 2 + 0 +6 +4 + 0 = 17 / 10 = 1.7
As you can see the average Page Rank is 1.7, which is ideal for ranking purposes.
Anything under 2 is ideal.
So given those two variables (allintitle under 5,000 and Page Rank under 2), we should be able to get on the first page of Google for that search term.
It seems more complicated than it is, but once you get into the swing of it, you will be able to do this in your sleep.
If you look in the results below I have two Youtube videos ranking first and second place for the phrase ‘free affiliate marketing training course‘
