Is Affiliate Marketing Still Profitable in 2019 or is it Dead?

So this is a question that I have been asked by people every year.

I have been making money as a full-time affiliate marketer for over 15 years now, and when I started making money online, people asked the same question back then.

Every year the same question, without fail seems to popup in the Internet Marketing forums from people who are not making any money.

Most of the time these people aren’t making money because they have got some of the fundamental processes wrong.

This is probably not their fault either.

There’s just so much crap out there on the Internet these days that it becomes really difficult to distinguish the difference between what works and what doesn’t work.

Or what used to work and what works now.

When I first started to make money online 15 years ago, the Internet look a lot different than what it does today.

There was no Youtube, no Pinterest, no Twitter, and no Instagram.

Nope, if you were to search for anything online, your main source of finding what you wanted was from Google, Yahoo and MSN (Bing).

By the way, what’s one of the biggest traffic source I have missed from the list above, write it in the comments below.

So when I get questions like is affiliate marketing still profitable in 2019 I kinda laugh because, you literally have so many more ways to get in front of your target audience, it’s not even funny.

But, let’s go back to what I mentioned earlier.

Most people starting out in the affiliate marketing space fail because they haven’t got some of the fundamentals right.

For example, I person I am coaching at the moment said that he was finding it difficult to rank in the search engines and that it was no use continuing on because none of his posts were ranking.

After realizing he had just started the course, I said to him that it takes time for the search engines to index and rank content, so be a little patient.

I also said to him that because his website was brand new (2 days old – I mean – looking for a miracle much) that there’s was no way the search engines were going to index and rank his content.

Furthermore, I said to him that he would need at least 30 posts before he started to see anything substantial, that’s if he did keyword research and wrote his content according to the guidelines,

He said that he had created around 20 posts and was doubting the program because he wasn’t ranking in the search engines yet.

When I asked him to send me his URL so that I could analyze what he had done, I found his content consisted of copied content from Amazon sites. He had only included a small blurb (around 150 words) from the product page along with a picture.

Not sure, just how he thought that he would be able to rank in the search engines using this method, but anyway.

There’s was no way he was following the guidelines either.

That’s an example of getting the fundamentals wrong.

If you know anything about writing content and getting your stuff indexed in the search engines, then you’ll know that the more content you write the higher your chances are of getting ranked in the search engines for multiple keyword phrases.

I believe that people often fail to make money with affiliate marketing because they have the wrong expectations.

Expectations will kill any chance of your success if they are set incorrectly in the beginning.

It’s really no wonder because there’s a lot of guru’s boasting how they made money in as little as one week or thirty days.

Now, as you can imagine a lot of this is hype and some, if not most, is BS, but I do know that there are some people, even in 2019 making money in as little as a week from scratch, I am one of them.

Do they know something you don’t?

The answer is yes.

They have learnt what works and what doesn’t and they have honed their skill levels so much that they are able to make money fast.

Does this mean that you will be able to make money in as little as a week as well?

Unlikely.

Sorry, but that’s the reality.

Having said that, if you adopted the winning strategies of those who are living the life you want to, and only master 25 to 50% of what these mentors achieve then you could possibly be earning money in as little as 2 to 4 weeks once you’ve developed the right skills.
